The Czech Republic, rich in history and natural beauty, is home to many amazing national parks, gorgeous small towns and medieval castles. There are over 2 000 castles and chateaux in the Czech Republic, which is more than in any other country in Europe. The most famous ones include the Hluboká chateau, the Orlík chateau, the Lednice chateau and the Karlštejn castle.
UNESCO world heritage
The country also boasts many UNESCO world heritage sites. There are less than a thousand of such sites in the whole world, and you will find 14 of them in the Czech Republic. Apart from the historical centres of Prague, Český Krumlov, Kutná Hora and Telč, they include the functionalist villa Tugendhat in Brno, historical gardens and the chateau in Kroměříž, or the pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk in Žďár nad Sázavou.
The Czech Republic is also known for its spa towns that are a very popular tourist destination. For example, Karlovy Vary and Marianské Lázně pride on a very long history of international recognition and success.
